Operating principle: CD changer
GENERAL
The only CD changer compatible with the RB2, RD2 and RT2 car radios is the 6-disc changer available as a Citroën accessory.
The CD changer supports playback of recordable CDs (CD-R) and rewritable CDs (CD-RW), provided they contain audio tracks.
The CD changer is controlled by the multifunction screen according to requests received from the car radio or the BSI, depending on the command used.
CD CHANGER OPERATING PHASES
Starting playback
In CD changer mode, playback resumes at the point on the CD track where it was stopped, whatever the cause of the interruption (source change, mute, radio switched off).
If the magazine is ejected and then reinserted into the changer, playback starts at the first track of the first readable CD present.
"Stop" mode
Stopping playback takes priority over all other commands received by the CD changer. The position of the lens on the disc is stored so that playback can resume at the same point.
"Normal playback" mode
The CD changer plays the tracks of the discs present one after another:
- at the end of a track, it moves to the next track on the disc, unless it is the end of the disc,
- at the end of the disc, it moves to the first track of the next disc,
- at the end of the last disc, it moves to the first track of the first disc present.
"Fast forward or fast reverse" mode
When the CD changer starts the acceleration procedure, it reduces the audio signal by 12dB.
"Track introduction scan" mode
The CD changer runs a normal playback procedure, but plays only the first 10 seconds of each track.
"Random track playback" mode
The CD changer selects tracks from the same disc at random. When all tracks of a disc have been played, the CD changer moves to the next disc, or to the first disc if the last disc has finished playing.
"Random track and disc playback" mode
The CD changer selects a disc at random and plays all of its tracks in random order. After the last track of the disc being played, the CD changer moves to another disc at random.
"Track repeat" mode
The CD changer repeats one track of a disc.
"Disc repeat" mode
The CD changer repeats all tracks of the disc.
MAGAZINE EJECTION
To eject the magazine, press the button located behind the sliding cover of the CD changer, against the magazine. If the car radio is on, ejecting the magazine switches it to TUNER mode.
