Open
Opening and locking the doors on the Citroën C6 (1st Gen, 2005–2012) is well designed and equipped with several safety mechanisms. The central control inside the vehicle allows electric locking and unlocking with the doors closed. The indicator lamp shows the respective status. Particularly noteworthy is the automatic locking from a speed of approximately 10 km/h, an effective protection against unauthorised access while driving. Frameless windows with automatic lowering when a door is opened provide additional safety; in the event of a power failure or frost, they require particular care. The boot can be unlocked both from inside and by remote control. If necessary, it can be opened manually, for example in the event of battery failure, using an emergency release inside the vehicle. The electric child safety lock also prevents unintentional opening by children travelling in the vehicle. Together, these features form a safety concept that combines comfort and protection optimally.
Locking/unlocking from inside
Pressing control A operates the central electric locking and unlocking when all doors are closed.
The doors can always be opened from inside.
Note: Control A is not active if the vehicle has been locked with the remote control or the key.
The three states of locking/unlocking of the vehicle are indicated by the indicator lamp of control A:
- It flashes when the vehicle is locked and the engine is switched off.
- It lights up when the ignition is switched on with the vehicle locked.
- It goes out when the vehicle is unlocked.
Anti-theft protection

The boot is locked automatically as soon as the vehicle reaches a speed of approximately 10 km/h.
Note: Opening a door or pressing control A allows unlocking.
Intrusion protection
When the vehicle is started with the doors and boot closed, the system automatically locks the doors as soon as a speed of approximately 10 km/h is reached.
Note: If a door has been opened, it is automatically locked again as soon as the vehicle reaches a speed of approximately 10 km/h km/h.
Activating/deactivating intrusion protection
Press and hold control A for the central locking until a message is displayed.
Your vehicle is equipped with frameless door windows. When the outer door handles are operated to open the doors, the SIDE WINDOWS are lowered slightly and so released from the upper door frame channel.
If this automatic lowering device is not active, the window may break:
- In the event of a power interruption or disconnected battery:
- Open the doors carefully.
- Do not close the door immediately again, as the window may break; if possible, wait until the vehicle's power supply has been restored.
- Before working on the battery, lower the windows slightly.
- In frost, ice formation may impair the function of the lowering device. If the window does not lower when the door handle is operated, first remove the ice.
To make the doors easier to open, their windows are automatically lowered by a few millimetres.
Note: This movement occurs as soon as the handle of one of the doors is opened.
When the door is closed, the window is automatically raised again and adjusted to ensure a perfect seal.
Important
This function is not equipped with anti-trap protection. Do not hold the door against the window when closing it.
An interruption of the vehicle's power supply affects the correct operation of opening/closing the window.
Note: At high speed, aerodynamic pressure makes it harder to close the windows. Noise comfort may be affected.

Electrically operated child lock
It disables the rear window lifter controls and the opening of the rear doors from the inside.
With Pack Lounge seats, the longitudinal adjustment and the adjustment of the front seat from the rear are also disabled.
Activation
The electric child lock is activated by pressing control A on the window switch panel. A message appears to confirm that the child lock is active.
Opening from the outside and use of the rear window lifters from the front remain possible.
Before replacing the battery or working on it, open the four windows slightly.
If the vehicle is unlocked with the key due to a battery fault, opening or closing a door with the window closed may seriously damage the window or even break it.

Tailgate
With the vehicle stationary, unlocking is carried out using:
- The remote control or the key.
- The central opening control inside, or when opening a door.
Opening from outside
Press the upper part of control A.
Note:
- In all cases, the boot locks once the vehicle is driven at more than approximately 10 km/h.
- When stationary, the boot unlocks when a door is opened or by using the interior lock/unlock control.

Closing the boot
Lower the boot lid using the strap on the inside trim of the boot.
Finally, press the lid closed.

Emergency release
If the boot fails to unlock, the lock can be released by folding down the rear seat backrest:
- Insert a tool, e.g. a screwdriver, into opening B of the lock.
- Operate it until the boot unlocks.
