Programmable Heater

The programmable heater in the Citroën C6 (1st Gen) is a technical highlight for cold days. It allows the engine and the interior to be pre-heated, even with the engine switched off. The heater can be activated immediately or at a desired time using a remote control. The heating duration and level can be set freely. Control is via a user-friendly display with clear symbols and feedback. Safety functions prevent use when the fuel level is low or in enclosed spaces. Regular maintenance and initialization of the remote control after a battery change ensure proper function. Whether spontaneous activation or precise programming, this system combines comfort, efficiency and safety.

The programmable heater operates independently of the engine.

With the engine switched off, it pre-heats the coolant system to ensure the engine is at optimal operating temperature from the moment it is started.

The programmable heater is switched on using a remote control with long range.

This can take place immediately or, thanks to the programming function, at a delayed time.

Remote Control for Programming

The remote control for programming the heating system consists of the following buttons and indicators:

Displaying the functions

Press buttons 1 one after the other to display the functions.

The first time you press the left or right button, the time is displayed.

Then press the left button to display the time for programming and the heating level (C1 to C5).

Pressing the right button first displays the interior temperature, then the pre-heater operating time for immediate start.

The interior temperature information is only available when the engine is off.

After displaying the time by pressing buttons 1, press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously within 10 seconds.

This symbol flashes.

Set the time using buttons 1. Press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously to store it.

This symbol is displayed (steady).

Immediate Start

Press button 5 (ON) until the message "OK" appears.

When the signal has been received, the message "OK" and the operating time are displayed.

The pre-heater switches on and this symbol appears.

To deactivate the function, press button 4 (OFF) until the message "OK" appears.

This symbol appears.

If the message "FAIL" is displayed during this setting, the signal was not received.

Repeat the procedure from a different position.

Setting the Operating Time

Press buttons 1 to display the operating time.

This symbol appears.

After displaying the operating time, press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously within 10 seconds.

This symbol flashes.

Set the duration by pressing buttons 1 (adjustable in steps of 10 min, maximum value 30 min).

Press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously to store the operating time.

This symbol appears (steady).

The factory setting is 30 minutes.

Programming the Heater

You must enter your departure time so that the system can automatically calculate the optimal time to switch on the pre-heater.

Programming the Start Time

Press buttons 1 to display the programmed time.

This symbol appears.

After displaying the programmed time, press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously within 10 seconds.

This symbol flashes.

Set the time by pressing buttons 1 and store it by pressing buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously.

This symbol appears (steady).

Activation - Deactivation

After displaying the programmed time using buttons 1, press button 5 (ON) until the message "OK" appears.

When the signal has been received, the message "OK" and the symbol "HTM" appear.

This symbol appears when the pre-heater is switched on.

HTM: Heat Thermo Management (heater control).

To deactivate the programming, press button 4 (OFF) until the message "OK" appears.

The "HTM" symbol goes out.

If the message "FAIL" is displayed during these settings, the signal was not received.

Repeat the procedure from a different position.

Switching off the heater

Press button 5 (ON).

The "HTM" symbol remains displayed.

Changing the heating level

The system has 5 heating levels (C1 lowest level to C5 highest level).

After calling up the heating level using buttons 1, press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously.

The letter "C" flashes.

Set the heating level by pressing buttons 1.

Press buttons 4 and 5 simultaneously to store the selected level. The letter "C" appears (steady).

The factory presets are replaced by the new entries.

The programmed times are stored until the next change.

Once the start time is activated, the heating level can no longer be changed. To do so, the start time must first be deactivated.

Replacing the battery

The remote control is powered by a supplied 6V-28L battery.

A message appears on the display when the battery needs to be replaced.

Release the housing, then replace the battery.

Afterwards, the remote control must be reinitialised, see below.

Do not dispose of used batteries with household waste. Return them to a CITROËN authorised dealer or to a known collection point.

Reinitialising the remote control

When disconnecting the vehicle battery or replacing the remote control battery, the remote control must be reinitialised.

Within 5 seconds of applying power, press button 4 (OFF) for 1 second.

When the procedure has been completed correctly, the message "OK" appears on the remote control display.

In case of a fault, the message "FAIL" appears. Repeat the procedure.

An adapter for your programmable heater is available as an accessory, allowing it to be used to preheat the vehicle interior.

Always switch off the programmable heater when refuelling to avoid any risk of fire or explosion.

To avoid the risk of poisoning or suffocation, do not operate the programmable heater in enclosed spaces such as a garage or workshop without exhaust extraction, not even for a short period.

Do not park the vehicle on easily flammable ground (dry grass, leaves, paper...), as there is a risk of fire.

The programmable heating system is supplied from the vehicle's fuel tank. Before switching on the system, make sure the tank contains sufficient fuel. It is strongly recommended not to program the heater once the tank reserve has been reached.
