Advice Before starting a journey, the driver should make sure that passengers use their seat belts correctly and that the belts are properly fastened. Always fasten your seat belt, wherever you are seated in the vehicle, even for short journeys. Do not twist the buckle, as this may cause the belt to malfunction. Seat belts are fitted with a retractor that automatically adjusts the belt length to the body. The belt retracts automatically when not in use. Check that the belt is properly retracted before and after use. The lower part of the belt must sit as low as possible across the hips. The upper part of the belt must lie in the hollow of the shoulder. Retractors are fitted with an automatic locking mechanism in the event of a collision, sudden braking or rollover. To unlock the mechanism, pull the belt sharply and release it so that it retracts slightly.
For the seat belt to perform its function:
it must be worn as close to the body as possible,
pull it out smoothly in front of you, checking that it is not twisted,
it must be used by one person only,
it must not be punctured or torn,
it must not be modified, as this may impair its performance.
Due to applicable safety regulations, any work on the vehicle's seat belts must be carried out by a qualified specialist workshop with the appropriate equipment, such as a CITROËN network dealership. Have the seat belts checked periodically at a CITROËN network dealership or specialist workshop, and especially if any damage is noticed. Clean the seat belts with soapy water or with a fabric cleaner available from the CITROËN network. After folding down a seat back or moving the rear bench, check that the belt is correctly positioned and retracted.Recommendations for carrying children Use suitable child seats to carry children under 12 years old or under 150 cm in height.
