Ventilation and air conditioning recommendations

~1min read
For both systems to work fully effectively, observe the following rules of use and operation:
  • To ensure even air distribution, do not block the external air intakes at the base of the windscreen, the nozzles, the vents, or the air extraction opening in the luggage compartment.
  • Do not cover the sunlight sensor on the dashboard; it is used to control the automatic air conditioning system.
  • If the air conditioning is not used, run the system for at least 5 to 10 minutes once or twice a month to keep it working properly.
  • Check the cabin filter regularly and replace the filter elements periodically. We recommend using a multifunction cabin air filter. Thanks to its additional active element, it improves the efficiency of cleaning the air breathed by passengers and keeps the cabin cleaner (it reduces allergens, eliminates unwanted odours and prevents greasy deposits from forming).
  • To keep the air conditioning system working efficiently, regular checks are recommended in accordance with the instructions in the service and warranty book.
  • If the system does not cool, switch off the air conditioning and contact a CITROËN dealership or a specialist workshop.

When towing a heavy trailer (or another vehicle) up a steep incline or in high outside temperatures, switching off the air conditioning frees engine power for towing, improving towing performance.

After a long period parked in the sun, the cabin temperature rises considerably, so the interior must be ventilated thoroughly. Set the airflow control to a level sufficient to ensure adequate air exchange in the cabin. The refrigerant in the air conditioning circuit contains no chlorine and does not pose a threat to the ozone layer. A puddle under the parked vehicle is normal; it is water condensate from the air conditioning condenser.
