Before switching off the engine, you can either:

  • set position N to select neutral, or
  • leave a gear engaged; in this case the vehicle cannot be moved.
In all parking situations, always apply the parking brake to immobilise the vehicle. If you immobilise the vehicle with the engine running, always set the gear selector to position N (neutral). Before working in the engine compartment, always check that the gear selector is in position N and that the parking brake is applied.
