Diesel engine speed
Diesel engines are fitted with an injection pump that prevents the maximum permitted engine speed from being exceeded, regardless of the gear currently selected.
While driving, depending on the quality of the fuel used, white smoke may appear in exceptional cases.
This is the result of the automatic regeneration of the diesel particulate filter and does not affect how the vehicle behaves.
Empty fuel tank
After refilling the tank following complete fuel depletion, the fuel system must be bled. Before restarting the engine, refer to the “Fuel tank” section in chapter 1.
Winter operating tips
To avoid problems in freezing conditions:
- always keep the battery properly charged,
- make sure the diesel fuel level does not get too low, as this could cause condensed water vapour to collect at the bottom of the fuel tank.
