Checking Suspension Friction Force
PROCEDURE.
1. Together with an assistant, grasp the rear bumper with both hands and lift the rear of the vehicle as high as possible. Slowly lower the vehicle until
it reaches a static equilibrium position..
2. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bumper.
3. Press down on the bumper and lower the rear of the vehicle as far as possible. Then,
slowly and gradually reduce the force and allow the vehicle to reach the static equilibrium position.
Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bumper.
4. Measure the vertical distance from the floor to the center of the bumper. With normal suspension friction, the difference between the two measurement results should not
If the difference exceeds this value, check the condition of the lower arm mounts, telescopic struts and ball joints.
Check the suspension arms for signs of wear or damage.
