Remove or disconnect:

PROCEDURE.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Measure the free length of the threaded cable end. Record the result.

measurement for use in the preliminary adjustment of the new cable.

3. Disconnect the cable end 3 from the clutch release shaft lever 1.

3a. Remove the clip.

3b. Unscrew the nut 4.

4. Starter interlock switch.

5. Clutch pedal.

5a. Remove the return spring 12 from the bracket.

6. Disconnect the return spring 12 and the cable end from the pedal.

7. Pull the cable out of the engine compartment.

Installation

PROCEDURE.

1. Insert the cable from the engine compartment through the dash panel.

2. Install the bushing 5 and the washer onto the cable end.

3. Attach the cable end and the return spring 12 to the pedal.

4. Install the pedal 14 between the brackets.

5. Insert the pivot shaft through the holes in the brackets 10 and the pedal 14.

5a. Before installation, lubricate the pivot shaft with multi-purpose grease N1052349.

5b. Install the washer 9.

5c. Install the nut 8.

5d. Install the cotter pin 7.

5e. Install the return spring 12 onto the bracket.

6. Starter interlock switch.

7. Connect the cable end 3 to the clutch release shaft lever 1.

8. Install the nut 4 in the position it occupied before cable removal.

9. Adjust the clutch cable.

10. Clip.

Adjustment

Measuring the Distance from the Clutch Pedal to the Steering Wheel

PROCEDURE.

1. Measure the distance from the center of the clutch pedal pad to the steering wheel rim. Record the measurement.

2. Fully depress the clutch pedal. Measure again the distance from the

center of the clutch pedal pad to the steering wheel rim. Record the measurement.

3. Subtract the first measurement from the second to determine the pedal

travel.

The nominal clutch pedal travel is 138–146 mm.

If the actual pedal travel is outside the specified range,

remove the clip 2 and turn the nut 4 in either direction.

adjust the cable length and the pedal travel.

After adjustment, install the clip.

Warning.

With correct adjustment, the clutch pedal must be positioned higher than the

brake pedal. There must be no free play in the clutch pedal.

As the clutch disc friction linings wear, the clutch pedal rises higher.
