Tire Replacement

~2min read

The tires on your new vehicle are designed to balance many characteristics. They should be checked regularly for wear and correct cold tire pressure. The manufacturer strongly recommends using tires equivalent to the original in size, quality, and performance when replacement is required. See the Tire and Loading Information label or the Vehicle Certification Label for your tire size. The load index and speed symbol for your tire can be found on the sidewall of the original equipment tire.

See the tire size chart in the "Tire Safety Information" section of this manual for more information on load index and speed symbol.

It is recommended to replace the two front tires or the two rear tires as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect your vehicle's handling. If you ever replace a tire, make sure its specifications match the original tires.

It is recommended to contact an authorized tire dealer or original equipment dealer with any questions you may have regarding tire specifications or characteristics. Failure to use equivalent replacement tires may adversely affect safety, handling, and ride of your vehicle.

  • Do not use a tire, wheel size, load rating or speed rating other than those specified for your vehicle. Some combinations of non-approved tires and wheels can change suspension dimensions and performance characteristics, resulting in changes to the steering, handling and braking of your vehicle. This may cause unpredictable handling and loads on steering and suspension components. You may lose control and suffer serious injury or death. Use only tire and wheel sizes that are compatible with the load capacity of your vehicle.
  • Never use a tire with a lower load index or load capacity than that originally fitted to your vehicle. Using a tire with a lower load index may overload the tire and cause it to fail. You may lose control and have a collision.
  • Failure to equip your vehicle with tires that have sufficient speed capability may result in sudden tire failure and loss of vehicle control.
