General notes
- If a light is not working, check before replacing a bulb that the relevant fuse is intact. For the fuse layout, see the "Replacing fuses" section in this chapter;
- Before replacing the bulb, check that its contacts are not oxidised;
- Blown bulbs must be replaced with new ones of the same type and rating;
- After replacing a headlight bulb, always check the beam alignment for safety reasons.
For halogen bulbs, only handle the metal part of the bulb. Touching the glass envelope with your fingers reduces light output and can also shorten bulb life. If the glass is accidentally touched, clean the bulb envelope with a cloth dampened with alcohol, then let it dry.
NoteModifications or repairs to the electrical system (electronic control units) that are carried out improperly or without regard to the system's technical specifications can cause malfunctions and create a fire risk.
NoteHalogen bulbs contain gas under high pressure. If a bulb breaks, glass fragments may be thrown out.
NoteReplacing gas discharge (bi-xenon) headlamp bulbs must be carried out by qualified personnel only, because of the high supply voltage: risk of fatal injury! Contact the Fiat service network for this work.
A slight fog may appear on the inner surface of the headlamps. This is not a fault. It is a normal occurrence at low temperatures caused by air humidity.
The fog disappears quickly after the headlamps are switched on. If droplets are present inside the headlamps, this indicates water infiltration. Please contact the Fiat service network.
