Air conditioning system maintenance
During the winter season, run the air conditioning system for about 10 minutes at least once a month. Before the start of summer, have the system's efficiency checked by an authorised Fiat dealer.
CAUTION
150) Do not smoke while carrying out any work in the engine compartment: flammable gases and vapours may be present, creating a fire hazard.
151) When the engine is warm, work in the engine compartment with great care: risk of burns.
152) The engine cooling system is pressurised. If the cap needs replacing, use only an original cap, as the system's efficiency may be reduced otherwise. When the engine is hot, do not unscrew the expansion tank cap: risk of burns.
153) Do not drive with an empty windscreen washer fluid reservoir: washer operation is very important as it improves visibility.
Some windscreen washer additives available on the market are flammable. The engine compartment contains hot components which may cause a fire if they come into contact with them.
154) Brake fluid is toxic and corrosive. If it comes into contact with the skin or eyes by accident, wash the area immediately with water and neutral soap and rinse thoroughly. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.
155) The symbol
stamped
on the reservoir indicates synthetic brake fluid, as opposed to mineral fluid. Using mineral fluid will permanently damage the special rubber seals of the brake system.
156) Battery electrolyte is poisonous and corrosive. Avoid contact of the electrolyte with skin or eyes. Do not bring open flames or sparking sources close to the battery: risk of explosion and fire.
157) Operating the battery with too low an electrolyte level may cause irreversible damage and an explosion.
158) If the vehicle is to remain for a long time in particularly cold conditions, remove the battery and store it in a warm place, otherwise the device may freeze.
159) Always protect your eyes with suitable safety goggles when working on the battery or when near it.
CAUTION
45) When topping up fluids, take care not to mix different types: they are not compatible with each other! Filling in the wrong fluid may seriously damage the vehicle.
46) The oil level must never exceed the MAX reference mark.
47) Do not top up with oil having different properties from the oil already in the engine.
48) PARAFLU UP coolant must not be mixed with any other fluid. If this happens, check the situation, absolutely avoid starting the engine and contact an authorised Fiat dealer.
49) Take care not to spill brake fluid on painted parts, as it causes corrosion. If this happens, wash the area immediately with water.
50) Incorrect installation of electrical and electronic accessories may cause serious damage to the vehicle. If you intend to fit additional accessories after purchasing the vehicle (e.g. anti-theft system, two-way radio, etc.), contact an authorised Fiat Service Centre, which will recommend the most suitable device and also determine whether a higher-capacity battery is required.
CAUTION
4) Used engine oil and the removed engine oil filter contain substances harmful to the environment. To replace the engine oil and oil filter, we recommend contacting an authorised Fiat Service Centre.
5) Used oil contains substances harmful to the environment. For oil changes, we recommend contacting an authorised Fiat Service Centre, which is equipped with the appropriate facilities for collecting used oil in an environmentally responsible manner and in accordance with legal requirements.
6) Batteries contain substances that are highly harmful to the environment. To replace the battery, contact an authorised Fiat Service Centre.
