Engine Oil

~1min read

Check the level with the vehicle parked on level ground, about 5 minutes after switching off the engine. Make sure the engine oil level is between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick. If the oil level is near or below the MIN mark, top up through the filler opening until the MAX reference mark is reached.

0.9 TwinAir Turbo versions: on these versions the engine oil level dipstick is combined with the filler cap.

Remove the engine oil level dipstick, wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth and reinsert it. Remove it again and check that the engine oil level is between the MIN and MAX reference marks stamped on the dipstick.

Engine oil consumption:

The approximate maximum engine oil consumption is 400 grams per 1000 km. During the first period of use the engine is in its running-in phase, so oil consumption should stabilise after the first 5,000–6,000 km.

WARNING After topping up or changing the oil, start the engine for a few seconds and wait a few minutes after switching it off before checking the level.
