Starting and driving

General warnings

~2min read

When manoeuvring, pay particular attention to obstacles that may be above or below the sensors.

Objects located very close to the front or rear of the vehicle may in some cases not be detected by the system and may damage the vehicle or be damaged themselves.

The following conditions may affect the effectiveness of the parking system:

  • ice, snow, mud or several layers of paint on the sensor surface, which may reduce sensor sensitivity and the system's ability to operate;
  • mechanical interference (for example, washing the car, rain, strong wind, hail) may cause the sensor to detect an object that does not actually exist ("echo interference");
  • systems generating ultrasound (for example, air brakes on trucks or pneumatic hammers) near the vehicle may alter the signals sent by the sensor;
  • changes in sensor position, caused for example by changes in settings (due to worn shock absorbers or suspension), tyre replacement, overloading the vehicle, or a vehicle-specific setting that lowers it, may affect the operation of the parking sensor system;

CAUTION

114) The driver is always responsible for parking and other potentially hazardous manoeuvres. When performing such manoeuvres, always check that there are no people (especially children) or animals in the manoeuvring area. Parking sensors assist the driver when parking, but the driver must never reduce attention while performing potentially hazardous manoeuvres, even when they are carried out at low speed.

CAUTION

37) For the system to function correctly, the sensors must always be clean and free of mud, dirt, snow or ice. When cleaning the sensors, take the utmost care not to scratch or damage them; avoid using dry, rough or hard cloths. Wash the sensors with clean water, optionally with car shampoo. In car washes that use high-pressure steam or water jets, clean the sensors quickly, keeping the nozzle at a distance of more than 10 cm.
