Start&Stop system
The Start&Stop system automatically switches off the engine each time the vehicle stops, and restarts it when the driver intends to move off again. This helps reduce fuel consumption, exhaust emissions and noise.
Engine stop: after the vehicle has stopped, the engine switches off when the gearbox is in neutral and the clutch pedal is released.
Note To avoid repeated engine stops when driving at walking pace, automatic engine stop only takes place once the speed exceeds approximately 10 km/h.
Engine restart: to restart the engine, depress the clutch pedal.
MANUAL ACTIVATION/DEACTIVATION OF THE SYSTEM
To switch the system on/off manually, press the button shown in fig. 70.

CAUTION
110) When replacing the battery, always contact an authorised Fiat dealer. The battery must be replaced with one of the same type (HEAVY DUTY) and with identical specifications.
111) Before opening the engine hood, make sure the engine is switched off and the ignition key is in the STOP position. Follow the instructions on the plate fitted to the front crossmember. If there are other people in the vehicle, it is recommended to remove the key. Always leave the vehicle with the key removed or turned to the STOP position.
When refuelling, make sure the engine is switched off with the key in the STOP position.
CAUTION
36) If climate comfort is a priority, the Start&Stop system can be switched off so that the air conditioning system keeps operating continuously.
