CAUTION
172) Using some of the system's functions while driving may distract your attention and create a risk of a collision or other serious consequences. For this reason, they should only be used when road conditions allow it and, if necessary, only after stopping the vehicle.
173) WARNING: Looking at the system while driving may distract your attention and creates a risk of a collision or other serious consequences.
While driving, do not change the system settings or enter data in a non-voice manner (i.e. using manual controls). Before performing this type of operation, stop the vehicle safely and in accordance with the traffic regulations. It is very important to observe these warnings, because setting or changing some functions may distract the driver and take the driver's hands off the steering wheel.
174) Voice-controlled commands: individual system functions can be operated using voice commands only. Using voice commands while driving allows you to operate the system without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
175) Looking at the display for extended periods: do not operate any functions that require you to concentrate on the display for an extended period while driving. Before using any function, make sure it can be carried out safely and in accordance with traffic regulations.
Even a brief glance at the display may be dangerous if the driver's attention is diverted from driving at a critical moment.
176) Setting the volume: do not set the volume excessively high.
While driving, keep the volume at a level that allows you to hear road traffic and warning signals.
Driving without hearing these types of signals may contribute to causing an accident.
177) Using the voice recognition system: the software recognizes speech based on a statistical process, which is prone to errors.
The user is responsible for monitoring the voice recognition function, allowing the system to correct any possible errors.
178) Dangerous distraction: certain functions may require manual settings (not via voice commands). Carrying out these types of settings or entering data while driving may cause serious distraction and a collision or serious consequences. Before performing such operations, stop the vehicle safely and in accordance with the traffic regulations.
WARNINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
CAUTION
INTERIOR FITTINGS
- Do not travel with the glove box lid open: in the event of an accident it may injure a passenger.
- The cigar lighter gets very hot. Use it carefully and keep it away from children: risk of fire or burns. Always check that the cigar lighter has switched off.
ROOF RACK/SKI RACK
- After driving a few kilometres, check that the mounting bolts of the brackets are properly tightened.
- Never exceed the maximum permitted loads (see the chapter "Technical data").
- Distribute the load evenly, bearing in mind that the vehicle becomes more sensitive to crosswind while driving.
PREPARATION FOR RADIO INSTALLATION
- If you intend to install a radio after purchasing the vehicle, first contact an Fiat Authorised Service Centre, which will be able to advise you on this, in order to preserve battery life. Excessive current draw will damage the battery and may void the battery warranty.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
- During operation of the catalytic converter and the diesel particulate filter (DPF), high temperatures are reached: therefore do not park the vehicle on flammable materials (grass, dry leaves, pine needles, etc.): risk of fire.
INTERIOR COMPONENTS
- Never use flammable products, such as ether or rectified petrol, to clean the interior parts of the vehicle. Electrostatic charges generated during cleaning may cause a fire.
- Do not store aerosol cans in the vehicle: risk of explosion. Aerosol cans must not be exposed to temperatures above 50°C. Inside a vehicle heated by the sun the temperature may far exceed this value.
POWER SUPPLY
- Changes or repairs to the power supply system, carried out incorrectly and without regard to the technical characteristics of the system, may cause malfunctions with a risk of fire.
LOAD RECOMMENDATIONS (Punto VAN versions)
- In the event of sudden braking or accidental collisions, a sudden shift of the load may create dangerous situations for the driver and passengers: therefore, before setting off, secure the load firmly using the partition.
Use straps, ropes or belts of a thickness suitable for the mass of the load being secured to lock it in place.
CAUTION
ROOF RACK/SKI RACK
- Strictly observe the applicable legal regulations concerning the maximum dimensions of luggage.
PREPARATION FOR RADIO INSTALLATION
- To connect the radio at the designated location, contact an Fiat Authorised Service Centre, which will help avoid all types of faults that could adversely affect vehicle safety.
BODYWORK
- To keep the aesthetic properties of the paint unchanged, do not use abrasive and/or polishing products when cleaning the vehicle.
- Avoid washing the vehicle in automatic brush car washes. It is better to wash the vehicle by hand using pH-neutral cleaning agents; after washing, dry the vehicle with a damp chamois leather cloth. Do not use abrasive and/or polishing products for vehicle care. Bird droppings must be washed off immediately and thoroughly, as their acidity is particularly aggressive to the paint. Avoid parking the vehicle under trees where possible; remove plant resin from the vehicle immediately, as removing it later, once it has dried on the paint, may require abrasive and/or polishing products, which are expressly not recommended because they may alter the characteristic matt finish of the paint. Do not use undiluted windscreen washer fluid to clean the windscreen and rear window; dilute it, where possible, at a ratio of 50% with water. Limit the use of undiluted windscreen washer fluid strictly to situations dictated by the outside temperature.
INTERIOR COMPONENTS
- Do not use alcohol, petrol or their derivatives to clean the instrument cluster lens and the dashboard.
CAUTION
BODYWORK
- Detergents pollute water. For this reason, wash the vehicle only in locations equipped with systems for collecting and treating washing fluids.
