Removal and Installation — Liftgate

Removal

1. 1
   Open the liftgate.

   Remove the high mounted stop lamp.
   Refer to: High Mounted Stop Lamp (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).

   Remove the liftgate trim panel.
   Refer to: Liftgate Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

   Remove the C-pillar trim panel.
   Refer to: Rear Pillar Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

   1. Release the clips.

   2. Lower the rear headliner.

   • Disconnect the electrical connectors.

   • Remove the clip.
     Torque: 97 lb-in (11 N·m)

   Feed the washer hose through the liftgate opening.

   Remove the grommet and route the wiring harness out of the liftgate.

   Mark the position of the liftgate hinge.

   

10. 10
    Remove the retainers securing the liftgate strut or the liftgate motor and set them aside.

    

11. 11
    Remove the bolts and the liftgate.
    Torque: 22 lb-ft (30 N·m)

    

Installation

1. 1
   To install, reverse the removal procedure.

   If necessary, align the liftgate.
   Refer to: Liftgate Alignment (501-03 Body Closures, General Procedures).

3. Perform the power liftgate initialization.
   Refer to: Power Liftgate Initialization (501-03 Body Closures, General Procedures).
