Refer to: Front Strut and Spring Assembly (204-01 Front Suspension).

Compress the coil spring enough to relieve the tension from the strut assembly.
Use the General Equipment: Spring Compressor
Use the General Equipment: Vise

NOTE
Note the position of the components before removal.
Use a hex key to prevent the piston rod from rotating.

NOTE
During assembly, apply the specified silicone grease to the strut rod, and to the top and side surfaces of the outermost part of the dust boot.
To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESA-M1C200-A) (ESE-M1C171-A)

NOTE
Use a hex key to prevent the piston rod from rotating.
At this stage, tighten the nut by hand only.
Use the general equipment: Spring Compressor
Use the general equipment: vise

NOTE
Make sure the spring is correctly seated in the lower spring seat.
Make sure the alignment marks are aligned.

NOTE
Use a hex key to prevent the piston rod from rotating.
Use the general equipment: Spring Compressor
Use the general equipment: vise
Torque: 35 lb-ft (48 N·m)
