Removal

  1. Remove the steering knuckle.
    Refer to: Steering Knuckle (204-01 Front Suspension, Removal and Installation).
  2. Remove the wheel hub from the knuckle using a hydraulic press and the special service tools.
    Use the special service tools: 204-023 (T73T-1217-A) Installer, wheel hub bearing cup. , 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle. , 205-D064 (D84L-1123-A) Remover, bearing.
    Use common shop equipment: hydraulic press

  3. NOTICE: Use the bearing remover and the bushing remover/installer to prevent damage to the wheel hub. If the wheel hub is damaged, a new wheel hub must be installed.

    NOTICE: Do not use heat to remove the bearing inner race, as this may damage the bearing.

    Using the special tools, remove the wheel hub bearing inner race from the wheel hub (if still retained).
    Use the special service tools: 204-180 (T93P-5493-A) Remover/installer, bushing. , 205-D064 (D84L-1123-A) Remover, bearing.
    Use the common service equipment: hydraulic press
  4. Visually inspect the wheel hub surface for wear.
  5. Remove the wheel bearing retaining ring.
  6. Remove the wheel bearing using a hydraulic press and the special tool. Discard the hub bearing.
    Use the special service tool: 205-140 (T80T-4000-F) Installer, pinion bearing cup. , 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle. , 206-054 (T93P-20202-A) Installer, wheel speed sensor ring.
    Use the general equipment: hydraulic press

Installation

  1. Install the hub bearing using a hydraulic press and the special tool.
    Use the special service tool: 205-140 (T80T-4000-F) Installer, pinion bearing cup. , 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle. , 205-225 (T85T-1225-BX) Installer, axle bearing cup.
    Use the general equipment: hydraulic press
  2. Install the wheel bearing retaining ring.

  3. NOTICE: The inner race of the hub bearing must be supported when installing the hub. Failure to do so will damage the bearing.

    Install the wheel hub into the steering knuckle using a hydraulic press and the special tool.
    Use the special service tool: 204-023 (T73T-1217-A) Installer, wheel hub bearing cup. , 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) Handle. , 205-225 (T85T-1225-BX) Installer, axle bearing cup.
    Use the general equipment: hydraulic press
  4. Install the steering knuckle.
    Refer to: Steering Knuckle (204-01 Front Suspension, Removal and Installation).
