All vehicles

WARNING

On vehicles with an automatic transmission, always leave the gear selector in position P when leaving the vehicle.

  • Press the service brake pedal firmly.
  • Pull the parking brake lever firmly up to its stop.
  • Do not press the release button while applying the lever.
  • If the vehicle is parked on a slope facing uphill, select first gear and turn the steering wheel away from the curb.
  • If the vehicle is parked on a slope facing downhill, select reverse gear and turn the steering wheel toward the curb.

To release the parking brake, press the service brake pedal firmly, lift the lever slightly while pressing the release button, and push the lever down.
