Wet brakes reduce braking effectiveness. Gently press the brake pedal several times when leaving a car wash or standing water to dry the brakes.

Brake Over Accelerator

If the accelerator pedal sticks or becomes stuck, apply firm and steady pressure to the brake pedal to slow the vehicle and reduce engine power. If this condition occurs, apply the brakes and bring the vehicle to a safe stop. Turn off the engine, shift the transmission into Park (P), and apply the parking brake. Inspect the accelerator pedal and the area around it for any objects or debris that may prevent its movement. If nothing is found and the condition persists, have the vehicle towed to an authorized dealer.

Emergency Brake Assist

The Emergency Brake Assist system determines when you are braking hard by measuring the speed at which you press the brake pedal. This provides maximum braking effectiveness for as long as you press the pedal. Emergency Brake Assist can shorten stopping distance in critical situations.

Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)

This system helps you maintain steering control during emergency stops by preventing the brakes from locking.

If the lamp does not illuminate during start-up, remains on, or flashes, the Anti-lock Braking System may be disabled. Have the system checked by an authorized dealer. If the Anti-lock Braking System is disabled, normal braking remains effective.
