Operating principle

WARNINGS

  • This system does not relieve you of your responsibility to drive with appropriate attention and care.
  • You are responsible at all times for controlling your vehicle, for monitoring the system and for taking any necessary action.
  • If the sensor is blocked, the system may not function.
  • The sensor may track "false" lane markings, such as other structures or objects. This may result in a false warning or no warning.
  • The system may not function in cold weather and in severe weather conditions.
Rain, snow, spray and strong lighting contrasts can affect the sensor.
  • The system does not function if the sensor is unable to track lane markings.
  • The system may not function in roadworks zones.
  • The system may not function on roads with tight bends or lanes that are too narrow.
  • Do not carry out windscreen repairs in the immediate area around the sensor.
  • If your vehicle is fitted with a suspension kit not approved by Ford, the system may not function correctly.
  • Note: Keep the windshield free of foreign material such as bird droppings, insects, snow or ice. Note: the system may assist you on dual carriageways and motorways. Note: the system may not operate during hard acceleration or braking and when performing sudden maneuvers. Note: The system operates as soon as a lane marking is detected and tracked. Note: the system only operates at vehicle speeds above approximately 65 km/h.

The sensor is located behind the interior rear view mirror. It continuously monitors driving conditions to warn you of unintentional lane departure when driving at higher speeds.

The system automatically detects and tracks lane markings.

If your vehicle unintentionally drifts toward the lane markings, a warning is displayed in the information display. You are also alerted by vibrations in the steering wheel.

    Avertissements du système

A column of lane markings is displayed on each side of the vehicle icon.

Lane markings follow the color coding below:

    • Green: the system is ready to warn you of an unintentional lane change.
    • Red: your vehicle is approaching or is too close to the detected lane boundary. Take immediate action to safely steer the vehicle back into its lane.
    • Grey: the corresponding lane boundary is about to be removed.

Situations that may cause a lane boundary to be removed:

    • The road markings are not detected by the sensor.
    • You activate the turn signal for that side of the vehicle.
    • If you perform sudden maneuvers, accelerate hard or brake hard.
    • Your vehicle speed is outside the operating limits.
    • When the anti-lock braking system or electronic stability control intervenes.
    • Narrow lane.

If the markings on the display turn red or you feel vibrations in the steering wheel, you must react immediately to safely steer the vehicle back into its lane. Immediately correct any unintentional lane departure.
