Sitting in the correct position

~2min read

WARNINGS

  • Do not recline the seat back too far, as you may slide under the seat belt. This could cause serious injury in an accident.
  • An incorrect seating position, poor overall posture or an excessively reclined seat back can cause serious injury or death in an accident. Always sit upright against the seat back with your feet resting on the floor.
  • Do not carry objects higher than the seat back, to reduce the risk of serious injury in a collision or sudden braking.
S'asseoir dans la position correcte

When used correctly, the seat, head restraint, seat belt and airbags provide optimum protection in the event of an accident.

We recommend that you follow the instructions below:

  • Sit upright, with the base of your spine as far back into the seat as possible.
  • Do not recline your seat back by more than 30 degrees.
  • Adjust the head restraint so that its top is level with the top of your head and as far forward as possible. Make sure you are comfortably seated.
  • Maintain a sufficient distance between your body and the steering wheel. We recommend a minimum distance of 10 inches (25 cm) between your breastbone and the airbag cover.
  • Hold the steering wheel with your arms slightly bent.
  • Bend your legs slightly so that you can fully depress the pedals.
  • Position the diagonal strap of the seat belt over the center of your shoulder and adjust the lap strap so that it sits snugly across your hips.

Make sure you have a comfortable driving position and are able to maintain full control of your vehicle.
