Approaching and Following a Vehicle

GMC Terrain. Approaching and Following a Vehicle

The vehicle ahead indicator is displayed in the instrument cluster. It displays only when a vehicle is detected in your vehicle's path of travel in the same direction. If this symbol is not displayed, ACC will not respond to or brake for vehicles ahead.

ACC automatically slows the vehicle and adjusts vehicle speed to follow the detected vehicle ahead at the selected following gap. Vehicle speed increases or decreases to follow the detected vehicle ahead of your vehicle when that vehicle is traveling slower than your vehicle's speed. Limited braking may be applied if necessary. When braking is active, the brake lights will illuminate. Automatic braking may feel or sound different than when the brakes are applied manually. This is normal.
