Emissions Inspection and Maintenance Programs
In this manual: Instruments and Controls

If the vehicle requires Inspection/Maintenance testing, the test equipment will most likely be connected to the vehicle's Data Link Connector (DLC).

The DLC is located under the instrument panel to the left of the steering wheel. Do not connect devices that are not used to perform Emissions Inspection/Maintenance or service, as they may affect vehicle operation. See the Electrical Equipment supplement. See your dealer if assistance is required.
The vehicle may not pass inspection if:
- The light is on when the engine is running.
- The light does not come on when the ignition is in Service Mode.
- The critical emission control systems have not been fully diagnosed. If this occurs, the vehicle will not be ready for inspection and may require several days of normal driving before the systems are ready for inspection. This may happen if the 12-volt battery was recently replaced or discharged, or if the vehicle was recently serviced.
See your dealer if the vehicle fails or cannot be prepared for testing.
