Warning lights and gauges can alert you to a problem before it becomes serious enough to cause costly repairs or replacement. Paying attention to warning lights and gauges can help prevent injury.

Some warning lights come on briefly when the engine is started to indicate that they are working. When one of the warning lights comes on and stays on while driving, or when one of the gauges indicates a possible problem, refer to the section that explains what to do. Delaying repair can be costly and may even be dangerous.
