Parking Over Combustible Materials

Extended Parking

It is best not to park with the engine running. If the vehicle must be left running, make sure it will not move and that there is adequate ventilation.

See “Shifting Into Park” and Engine Exhaust.

If the vehicle remains parked and running with the RKE transmitter outside the vehicle, it will continue to run for up to half an hour.

If the vehicle remains parked and running with the RKE transmitter inside the vehicle, it will continue to run for up to one hour.

The vehicle may stop running sooner if it is parked on a hill due to limited fuel availability.

The timer resets if the vehicle is shifted out of P (Park) while it is running.
