Airbag Maintenance
Airbags and seat belt pretensioners require virtually no maintenance, and any self-repair of components of these systems is prohibited. However, you must contact an authorized dealer immediately for repair in the following cases:
If an airbag has deployed. Deployed airbags must be replaced together with the control unit and other airbag system components.
Deployed seat belt pretensioners must also be replaced.
Do not attempt to remove or replace deployed airbags yourself. These operations must be performed only at a Honda dealer service station.
• If the supplemental restraint system indicator shows a malfunction: Take the vehicle to an authorized dealer service station immediately for diagnosis and necessary repair. If you ignore this warning, the airbags may not function properly and will not provide the necessary protection in a traffic accident.
Only specially trained personnel are permitted to service airbag system components. Do not remove airbags or seat belt pretensioners from the vehicle yourself. If the system malfunctions or after the airbags and seat belt pretensioners have deployed, contact an authorized dealer service station for repair or replacement of system components.
