Convenient Features of Your Vehicle

Battery Saver Function, Headlight Delay Function

~1min read

Battery Saver Feature

This function is designed to prevent battery discharge. The system automatically turns off the parking lights when the key (remote key) is removed or when the driver turns off the engine (smart key) and opens the driver's door.

Due to this function, the parking lights automatically turn off if the driver parks on the roadside at night.

If you need the lights to remain on with the engine off, perform the following:

1) Open the driver's door.
2) Turn the parking lights off and on again using the light switch on the steering column.

Headlight Delay Function

If the key is removed from the ignition switch or turned to the ACC or LOCK/OFF position while the headlights (and/or parking lights) are on, the headlights will remain on for approximately 5 minutes. However, if the driver's door is opened and closed, the headlights turn off after 15 seconds. Also, when the engine is off, if the driver's door is opened and closed, the headlights (and/or parking lights) turn off after 15 seconds.

The headlights (and/or parking lights) can be turned off by pressing the lock button on the remote key or smart key twice, or by turning the light switch to the OFF or AUTO position.

You can activate or deactivate the Headlight Delay function in the User Settings (Light) mode on the LCD display (if equipped with a supervision cluster).

For more information, refer to the "LCD Display" section in this chapter.

NOTICE

If the driver exits the vehicle through a door other than the driver's door, the battery saver function does not operate, and the headlight delay function does not turn off automatically.

This may cause the battery to discharge. To prevent battery discharge, turn off the headlights manually using the headlight switch before leaving the vehicle.
