Driver Assistance System

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) System

~2min read

The Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system is designed to help detect and monitor approaching vehicles in the driver's blind spot and warn the driver of a possible collision with a warning message and audible warning.

In addition, if there is a risk of collision when changing lanes or moving forward out of a parking space, the system helps avoid a collision by applying the brakes.

The Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system helps detect and alert the driver that a vehicle is in the blind spot.

CAUTION

The detection range may vary depending on your vehicle speed. However, even if a vehicle is in the blind spot, the function may not warn you when you pass by at high speed.

The Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system helps detect and inform the driver that a vehicle is approaching at high speed from the blind spot area.

CAUTION

The warning timing may vary depending on the speed of the approaching vehicle.

When changing lanes, by detecting the lane ahead, if the system determines that there is a risk of collision with an approaching vehicle in the blind spot, the function helps avoid a collision by applying the brakes.

When you are driving forward out of a parking space, if the system determines that there is a risk of collision with an approaching vehicle in the blind spot, the feature helps avoid a collision by applying the brakes.

Information

In the following text, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist will be referred to as BCA.

Detection Sensor

[1]: Front view camera, [2]: Rear corner radar

Refer to the illustration above for the detailed location of the detection sensors.

CAUTION

Observe the following precautions to maintain optimal performance of the detection sensor:

  • Never disassemble the rear corner radar or radar assembly, or apply any impact to it.
  • If there is an impact to the rear corner radar or around the radar, the Blind-Spot Safety system may not operate properly, even though a warning message does not appear on the cluster. We recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • If the rear corner radars have been replaced or repaired, we recommend that the vehicle be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • Use only genuine parts to repair the rear bumper where the rear corner radar is located.
  • Do not install a license plate frame or items such as bumper stickers, film, or bumper guards over the rear corner radar.
  • The feature may not operate properly if the bumper has been replaced, or if the area around the rear corner radar has been damaged or painted.
  • If a trailer, vehicle, etc. is installed, it may adversely affect the performance of the rear corner radar, or the system may not operate.
