Warning and Control Function

Vehicle Detection

  • To warn the driver that a vehicle has been detected, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror will illuminate.
  • The system will operate when your vehicle speed is above 12 mph (20 km/h) and the speed of the vehicle in the blind spot is above 7 mph (10 km/h).
  • The collision warning will activate when the turn signal is turned on toward the direction of the detected vehicle.
  • If "Warning Only" is selected in the Settings menu, the collision warning will operate when your vehicle approaches a vehicle detected in the blind spot of an adjacent lane.
  • To warn the driver of a collision, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror and the head-up display (if equipped) will flash. At the same time, a warning sound will sound.
  • When the turn signal is turned off or you move out of the lane, the collision warning will be canceled and the system will return to vehicle detection status.

WARNING

  • The detection range of the rear corner radar is determined by the standard road width; therefore, on a narrow road, the system may detect other vehicles in the adjacent lane and warn you. Conversely, on a wide road, the system may not be able to detect a vehicle moving in the next lane and may not warn you.
  • When the hazard warning lights are on, the turn signal collision warning will not operate.

Information

If the driver's seat is on the left side, the collision warning may activate when you turn left. Keep a safe distance from vehicles in the left lane. If the driver's seat is on the right side, the collision warning may activate when you turn right. Keep a safe distance from vehicles in the right lane.

Collision-Avoidance Assist System (While Driving)

  • To warn the driver of a possible collision, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror will flash and a warning message will appear in the cluster. At the same time, an audible warning will sound and the warning light on the head-up display (if equipped) will flash.
  • The function will operate when your vehicle speed is within 40~200 km/h and both lane markings are detected.
  • Emergency braking helps prevent a collision with a vehicle in the blind spot.

WARNING

  • The collision-avoidance assist system will be canceled under the following conditions:
-- Your vehicle moves out of the lane by a certain distance
-- Your vehicle is no longer at risk of collision
-- The steering wheel is steered abruptly
-- The brake pedal is depressed
-- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is operating
  • After the function operates or when changing lanes, you must drive to the center of the lane. The function will not operate if the vehicle is not driven to the center of the lane.

Collision-Avoidance Assist System (While Backing Out)

  • To warn the driver of a possible collision, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror will flash and a warning message will appear in the cluster. At the same time, an audible warning will sound and the warning light on the head-up display (if equipped) will flash.
  • The function will operate when your vehicle speed is below 3 km/h and the vehicle speed in the blind spot is above 3 mph (5 km/h).
  • Emergency braking helps prevent a collision with a vehicle in the blind spot.

Vehicle Stop and Brake Control Release

  • When the vehicle is stopped by emergency braking, the "Drive" warning message will appear in the cluster. For your safety, the driver must immediately depress the brake pedal and check the surroundings.
  • Brake control will be released after the vehicle has been stopped by emergency braking for approximately 2 seconds.

WARNING

Observe the following precautions when using the Blind-Spot Safety system:

  • For safety, change the settings after parking the vehicle in a safe location.
  • If another system's warning message is displayed or a warning sound is heard, the Blind-Spot Safety system warning message may not be displayed and the warning sound may not be generated.
  • You may not hear the Blind-Spot Safety system warning sound if there is a lot of noise outside.
  • The Blind-Spot Safety system may not operate if the driver applies the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
  • When the Blind-Spot Safety system is operating, brake control will automatically cancel when the driver excessively depresses the accelerator pedal or steers the vehicle abruptly.
  • While the Blind-Spot Safety system is operating, the vehicle may stop suddenly, injuring passengers and causing unsecured objects to move. Always wear your seat belt and keep cargo secured.
  • Even if there is a problem with the Blind-Spot Safety system, the basic braking functions will operate normally.
  • The Blind-Spot Safety system does not operate in all situations and cannot avoid all collisions.
  • The Blind-Spot Safety system may warn the driver late or may not warn the driver depending on the road and driving conditions.
  • The driver must maintain control of the vehicle at all times. Do not rely on the Blind-Spot Safety system. Maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce speed or stop the vehicle.
  • Never use the Blind-Spot Safety system on people, animals, objects, etc. This may result in serious injury or death.

WARNING

Brake control may not operate properly depending on the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) condition. Warning will only occur when:

-- The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) warning light is on
-- The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is operating another function
