Precautions for Vehicle Service and Repair

Before starting work, make sure that the fenders, seats, and floor areas are covered with protective covers.

Whenever you perform an inspection in the engine compartment, the hood support rod must be inserted into the hole near the edge of the hood to prevent the hood from falling and to avoid the risk of injury.

Before closing the hood, make sure the hood support rod is lowered. Before driving the vehicle, always check that the hood is securely latched.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Follow the precautions below when lifting the vehicle with a jack or hoist.

1. Chock the wheels.

2. Place jack or hoist lift points only at the locations specified for this purpose.

3. Support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to page GI-10.

4. Before starting the engine, make sure that no tools or personnel are in the engine compartment.
