Front Strut Assembly - Removal, Installation

FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY - COMPONENTS

CAUTION

1. Parts marked with * must be preliminarily tightened. Final tightening must be done after lowering the vehicle to the wheels (vehicle unladen).

2. Replace self-locking nuts with new ones after removal.

REMOVAL

1. Remove the front wheel.

2. Disconnect brake hose bracket from front strut assembly. (On models with ABS, remove wheel speed sensor from steering knuckle and disconnect sensor wire from front strut.)

Do not apply excessive force when disconnecting parts.

3. Remove three front strut damper support mounting nuts (upper).

4. Remove front strut-to-steering knuckle mounting bolts (lower) and remove strut assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. Before installing the front strut assembly, make sure that the mating surfaces of the parts are clean.

2. Tighten the following components to the specified torques.

3. Connect the brake hose bracket to the front strut. (On models with ABS, install the wheel speed sensor on the steering knuckle and connect the sensor wire to the front strut.)
