Front Wheel Hub and Steering Knuckle - Inspection, Assembly
INSPECTION
1. Inspect the wheel hub for cracks and the hub splines for excessive wear.
2. Inspect the brake disc for scoring and damage.
3. Inspect the steering knuckle for cracks.
4. Inspect the bearing for cracks and damage.
INSTALLATION
1. Apply a thin coat of multipurpose grease to the bearing seats in the wheel hub and steering knuckle.

2. Using the special service tools (09495-33100 and 09517-29000), press the bearing into the steering knuckle.
1. To prevent damage to the bearing assembly, apply the press-fit force to the outer race of the bearing.
2. Always install a new bearing assembly (do not reuse a used bearing).
3. Install the dust cover.

4. Using the special service tool (09495-33100), press the wheel hub into the steering knuckle.
To prevent damage to the bearing assembly, apply the press-fit force to the inner race of the bearing.
5. Install the brake disc.

6. Pull the wheel hub and steering knuckle together using the special service tool (09517-21500), tightening the special tool nut to the specified torque.
Tightening Torque:
Special service tool nut: 200 - 260 N·m 7. Turn the wheel hub several times to properly seat the bearing.

8. Measure the wheel hub bearing rotating torque.
Wheel hub bearing rotating torque Maximum limit: 1.8 N·m or less

9. If the bearing rotating torque is 0 N·m, measure the wheel hub bearing axial play.
10. If the axial play is greater than the maximum limit when the special tool nut is tightened to 200 - 260 N·m, the bearing, hub, or steering knuckle was incorrectly installed. In this case, disassemble the assembly and repeat the assembly procedure.
Wheel hub bearing axial play:
0.08 mm or less 11. Remove the special service tool (09517-21500).
