The front and rear seats are equipped with adjustable head restraints. Head restraints provide comfort for passengers, but their main purpose is to protect occupants from whiplash and other neck and spinal injuries in a crash, especially a rear-end collision.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death in a crash, observe the following precautions when adjusting the head restraints:

  • Always properly adjust the head restraints for all occupants BEFORE driving the vehicle.
  • NEVER allow anyone to ride in a seat with the head restraint removed.
  • Adjust the head restraints so that the center of the head restraint is at the same height as the top of your eyes.
  • NEVER adjust the driver's head restraint while the vehicle is moving.
  • Adjust the head restraint as close to the occupant's head as possible. Do not use a cushion that keeps the body away from the seatback.
  • Make sure the head restraint is locked in position after adjustment.

CAUTION

To avoid damage, NEVER strike or pull on the head restraints.
