Opening the Tailgate

- The tailgate is locked and unlocked by turning the key to the "Lock" or "Unlock" position. (if equipped) - The tailgate is locked or unlocked when all doors are locked or unlocked with the key, the transmitter, the smart key or the central door lock/unlock switch.

- When unlocked, the tailgate can be opened by pulling the handle upward.

NOTE

The central door locking system activates when all doors and the tailgate are closed.

NOTE

In cold and humid climates, the door locks and their mechanisms may not function properly due to the cold.

WARNING The tailgate opens upward. Make sure no objects or persons are near the rear of the vehicle when opening the tailgate. NOTICE Make sure the tailgate is closed before driving the vehicle. Damage to the tailgate lift cylinders and connected devices may occur if the tailgate is not closed before driving the vehicle.
