Closing the Hood

~1min read

1. Before closing the hood, check the following:

- All engine compartment filler caps must be correctly installed.

- Remove gloves, rags and other combustible material from the engine compartment.

2. Return the support rod to its holder to prevent it from rattling.

3. Lower the hood to about 30 cm (12 in) above the closed position and let it drop. Make sure it locks into place.

WARNING - Hood - Before closing the hood, make sure all obstructions are removed from the opening. Closing the hood with an obstruction in the opening may cause property damage or serious personal injury. - Do not leave gloves, rags or other combustible material in the engine compartment. A fire may occur due to heat. WARNING - Always make sure the hood is securely closed before driving. If it is not closed, it may open while driving, causing a complete loss of visibility and possibly resulting in an accident. - The support rod must be fully inserted into its holder when inspecting the engine compartment. This prevents the hood from falling and causing possible injury. - Do not drive the vehicle with the hood raised, as visibility is obstructed and the hood may fall or be damaged.
