Your Vehicle's Safety System
Side Airbag (if equipped)
In this manual: Your Vehicle's Safety System
~1min read

Your vehicle is equipped with a side airbag for each front seat. The side airbags are designed to provide additional protection for the driver and front passenger in addition to the seat belts.
The side airbags are designed to deploy only in certain side impacts, depending on the force, angle, speed and point of impact of the shock.
The side airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impacts or rollovers.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from side airbags, observe the following precautions:
- Seat belts must be worn at all times to help passengers stay in their seats.
- Do not allow passengers to lean their head or body against the doors, place their hands on the doors, extend their arms through the windows, or place objects between the doors and the seats.
- Hold the steering wheel at the "9 o'clock" and "3 o'clock" positions to minimize the risk of hand and forearm injury.
- Do not use seat covers. Seat covers may reduce or impair the effectiveness of the system.
- Do not place any objects over the airbag or between the airbag and yourself.
- Do not place objects between the door and the seat. Such objects may become dangerous projectiles if the side airbag inflates.
- Do not install accessories on or near the side airbags.
- Do not slam the doors when the ignition switch is in the "ON" position, as this may cause the side airbags to inflate.
- If the seat or seat upholstery is damaged, it is recommended that your vehicle be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
