REPLACEMENT

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the headliner. (Refer to Body - "Roof Trim")
  3. Remove the overhead console, then remove the mounting bolts (3 pcs) from the sunroof motor. Then remove the motor from the roof drain pan (A) after disconnecting the connector (10-pin).
  4. Ground the terminals as shown in the table below and check that the sunroof unit operates according to the instructions in the table below. [Window regulator]
  5. Perform these input tests at the sunroof motor wiring harness connector. If one of the tests reveals a problem, locate and repair its source, then recheck the system. If all input tests are satisfactory, the sunroof motor must be faulty; replace it.
    Thick head Test
    Condition
    Test: Expected Result
2 ALL 2 ON Check voltage to ground:
    Battery voltage must be present.
4 Under all of these conditions Check continuity to ground:
    Continuity should be present.
1 Under all of these conditions Check voltage to ground:
    Battery voltage must be present.
Sunroof Reset: If the vehicle battery is disconnected or discharged, or if you use the emergency handle to operate the sunroof, the sunroof system must be reset. The sunroof system operates as follows:
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, then fully close the sunroof.
  2. Release the sunroof control lever.
  3. Press and hold the CLOSE button for at least 10 seconds until the sunroof moves slightly.
  4. Release the sunroof control lever.
  5. Press and hold the CLOSE button again for 5 seconds until the sunroof completes the following:
    • Sunshade opening and window opening -> window closing → sunshade closing. Then release the lever.
  6. Complete the reset procedure.
  7. The sunroof ECU determines the motor operating time.
  8. The motor can operate continuously for the 1st operating time (120 ± 10 sec).
  9. The continuously operating motor stops after the 1st operating time (120 ± 10 sec.).
  10. It then remains stopped for the 1st cooling time (18 ± 2 sec).
  11. The motor then has a 2nd operating time (10 ± 2 sec) after the 1st cooling time (18 ± 2 sec).
  12. The continuously operating motor stops after the 2nd operating time (10 ± 2 sec).
  13. The motor does not start during the 2nd cooling time (18 ± 2 sec).
  14. The motor repeats the 2nd operating time and the 2nd cooling time during continuous motor operation.
    • If the engine does not run continuously, the operating time is limited to prevent overheating.
    • The engine operating time is reset to "0" if the battery or fuse is reconnected after being disconnected, discharged, or blown.
    T1: 120 ± 10 s, T2: 18 ± 2 s, T3: 10 ± 2 s, T4: 18 ± 2 s
SUNROOF MOTOR OVERHEAT PROTECTION: To protect the sunroof motor from overheating during continuous operation, the sunroof ECU controls the motor operating time and cooling as follows:
