Jump Starting Procedure
1. Make sure the booster battery is 12 V and that its negative terminal is connected to ground.
2. If the booster battery is in another vehicle, be careful that the vehicles do not touch each other.
3. Turn off all unnecessary electrical loads.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the exact order shown in the illustration. First connect one end of the jumper cable to the positive (+) terminal of the discharged battery (1), then connect the other end to the positive (+) terminal of the booster battery (2). Next, connect one end of the other jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal of the booster battery (3), then connect the other end to a stationary, solid metal part (such as an engine lifting bracket) away from the battery (4). Do not connect it to, or near, moving parts when starting the engine.
Be careful that the jumper cables do not contact other components. Connect only to the correct battery terminals and ground. Do not lean over the battery when connecting the cables.
NOTE: Battery cables
Do not connect the negative (-) jumper cable of the booster battery to the negative (-) terminal of the discharged battery. This may cause the discharged battery to overheat and crack, releasing acid.
5. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery and let it run at 2000 rpm, then start the engine of the vehicle with the discharged battery.
If you cannot find any obvious cause for battery discharge, we recommend having your vehicle's system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
