What to Do in an Emergency

Tire Pressure Light

~1min read

When the tire pressure warning light comes on, it means that one or more tires are under-inflated.

If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, immediately reduce speed, avoid sharp turns and allow for a longer braking distance. Stop as soon as possible and check the tires without delay. Inflate them to the pressure specified on the label located at the center pillar (driver's side). If you cannot reach a gas station or if a tire is dangerously deflated, replace the under-inflated tire with the spare wheel.

In this case, the low tire pressure warning light may blink for about one minute and remain on after restarting and about 20 minutes of continuous driving. Have the flat tire repaired or replaced before driving.

NOTICE

In winter or in cold weather, the tire pressure warning light may illuminate if the tires were inflated to the recommended pressure in warm conditions. This does not mean that your TPMS is malfunctioning. In fact, tire pressure decreases in proportion to the drop in temperature.

When traveling from a warm region to a cold one, or vice versa, or if the outside temperature is very high or low, check the tire pressure and inflate the tires to the recommended pressure.

WARNING

Damage caused by underinflated tires

Driving on underinflated tires is dangerous. It makes the vehicle unstable and may cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and increase braking distance.

If you drive for a long time on underinflated tires, they may overheat and be damaged.
