Tire Replacement with TPMS
If a tire goes flat, the low tire pressure warning light will illuminate. It is recommended that the flat tire be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
NOTICE
It is recommended to contact a tire repair agent approved by HYUNDAI.
When replacing a tire, the seal connecting the tire pressure sensor to the wheel must be removed.
Each wheel is equipped with a pressure sensor installed inside the tire, behind the valve stem. You must use wheels specifically designed for TPMS. We recommend entrusting the service of your tires to a HYUNDAI-approved dealer.
Even if a low-pressure tire is replaced with a spare, the low tire pressure warning light will blink or remain on until the tire is repaired and replaced.
After replacing a low-pressure tire with the spare tire, the low tire pressure warning light may blink or remain on for several minutes because the TPMS sensor installed on the spare wheel has not been activated.
After the flat tire is re-inflated to the recommended pressure and reinstalled on the vehicle, or a new TPMS sensor is installed on the wheel, the TPMS malfunction indicator and warning lights will turn off after several minutes.
If the light does not turn off after several minutes of driving, we recommend that your vehicle's system be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
NOTICE
If the original wheel you installed is replaced with the spare wheel, the TPMS sensor on the spare wheel must be initialized and the one on the original wheel must be deactivated. If the TPMS sensor of the original wheel, located in the spare wheel holder, is still activated, the tire pressure monitoring system may not operate correctly. We advise you to have the tire repaired or replaced and the vehicle equipped with TPMS by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
It may be difficult to identify a flat tire by sight alone. Always use a suitable tire pressure gauge to measure tire pressure. Note that a hot tire (after driving) has a higher pressure than a cold tire.
The term "cold tires" means that the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours or has been driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).
Allow the tires to cool before measuring tire pressure. Always check that the tires are cold before inflating them to the recommended pressure.
NOTICE
It is recommended to use a tire sealant approved by HYUNDAI if your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. Using liquid sealant may damage the tire pressure sensors.
WARNING
TPMS
- The TPMS cannot warn you of serious damage or sudden tire failure caused by external factors such as nails or road debris.
- If you notice that the vehicle is unstable, reduce speed and brake gently, then park in a safe place off the road.
WARNING
TPMS Protection
Changing, modifying, or disabling components of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may interfere with the system's ability to warn the driver of underinflated tires and/or TPMS malfunctions. Changing, modifying, or deactivating TPMS components may also void the warranty on this part of the vehicle.
WARNING
FOR EUROPE
- Do not modify the vehicle, as this may cause interference with the TPMS function.
- Aftermarket wheels do not have a TPMS sensor. For your safety, it is recommended to use genuine parts supplied by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If you use aftermarket wheels, use TPMS sensors approved by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. If your vehicle is not equipped with TPMS sensors or if they do not operate properly, you may not be able to pass the periodic vehicle inspection required in your country.
All vehicles sold in the European market during the periods listed below must be equipped with a TPMS.
- New vehicle model: November 1, 2012~
- Current vehicle model: November 1, 2014~ (based on vehicle registration)
