Your Vehicle's Safety System

Additional Precautions

~1min read

Passengers must not get out of or change seats while the vehicle is moving. A passenger who is not wearing a seat belt during a collision or emergency stop may be thrown against the vehicle interior, against other passengers, or be ejected from the vehicle.

Do not use any accessories on the seat belts. Devices intended to improve passenger comfort or change the position of the seat belt may reduce the protection provided by the seat belt and increase the likelihood of serious injury in a collision.

Do not modify the front seats. Modification of the front seats may interfere with the operation of the supplemental restraint system sensor components or side airbags.

Do not place objects under the front seats. Placing objects under the seat may interfere with the operation of the supplemental restraint system sensor components and wiring harness.

Do not strike the doors. Striking the doors while the ignition switch is in the ON position may cause the airbags to deploy.

Adding Equipment or Modifying Your Airbag-Equipped Vehicle: If you modify your vehicle by altering the vehicle frame, bumper system, front end, or side sheet metal, or by changing the ride height, this may affect the operation of your vehicle's airbag system.
