Your Vehicle's Safety System

SRS Care

~1min read

The SRS requires virtually no maintenance, and there are no parts that you can safely service yourself. If the SRS warning light does not illuminate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, or remains on, we recommend that the system be inspected immediately by an authorized HYUNDAI service center.

We recommend that any work on the SRS, such as removal, installation, repair, or any work on the steering wheel, front passenger panel, front seats, and roof rails, be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI service center. Improper handling of the SRS may result in serious injury.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death, observe the following precautions:

  • Do not attempt to modify or disconnect SRS components or wiring, including adding any type of badges to the pads or modifications to the body structure.
  • Do not place objects on or near the airbag modules in the steering wheel, instrument panel, and front passenger panel above the glove box.
  • Clean the airbag cover trim with a soft cloth dampened with plain water. Solvents or cleaners may adversely affect the airbag cover and proper deployment of the system.
  • We recommend that deployed airbags be replaced by an authorized HYUNDAI service center.
  • If SRS components must be discarded, or if the vehicle must be scrapped, certain safety precautions must be observed. Consult an authorized HYUNDAI service center for the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions may increase the risk of personal injury.
