Convenient Features of Your Vehicle

Immobilizer System

~1min read

The immobilizer system helps protect your vehicle from theft. If an incorrect smart key code (or other device) is used, the engine fuel system is disabled.

When the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position, the immobilizer system indicator should illuminate briefly and then turn off. If the indicator starts flashing, the system does not recognize the key code.

Turn the Engine Start/Stop button to the OFF position, then place the Engine Start/Stop button in the ON position again.

The system may not recognize your key code if another immobilizer key or other metal object (such as a key chain) is near the key. The vehicle may not start because metal can interrupt the normal transmission of the transponder signal.

If the system repeatedly fails to recognize the key code, it is recommended that you contact an HYUNDAI dealer.

Do not attempt to modify this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems may cause your vehicle to malfunction.

WARNING

To prevent vehicle theft, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle. Your immobilizer password is a unique customer password and must be kept confidential.

NOTICE

The transponder in your key is an important part of the immobilizer system. It is designed to operate reliably for many years; however, avoid exposure to moisture, static electricity, and rough handling. A malfunction of the immobilizer system may occur.
