What to Do in an Emergency

Introduction

With the Tire Mobility Kit, you can remain mobile even after a tire puncture.

The compressor and sealant system effectively and conveniently seals most punctures in passenger car tires caused by nails or similar objects, and re-inflates the tire.

After you confirm that the tire is properly sealed, you may drive carefully for up to 120 miles (200 km) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h to reach a service station or tire dealer for tire replacement.

Some tires, especially those with large punctures or sidewall damage, may not be fully sealed.

Loss of tire air pressure can adversely affect tire performance.

For this reason, avoid sharp steering or other driving maneuvers, especially if the vehicle is heavily loaded or towing a trailer.

The Tire Mobility Kit is not intended as a permanent tire repair method and should be used for only one tire.

This procedure shows you step by step how to temporarily seal a puncture simply and reliably.

Safety Notes for Using the Tire Mobility Kit

  • Park your vehicle on the side of the road so that you can work with the Tire Mobility Kit away from moving traffic.
  • To make sure your vehicle does not move, even when parked on fairly level ground, always apply the parking brake.
  • Use the Tire Mobility Kit only for sealing and inflating passenger car tires. Only punctures located in the tread area of the tire can be sealed with the Tire Mobility Kit.
  • Do not use on motorcycles, bicycles, or any other types of tires.
  • If the tire and wheel are damaged, do not use the Tire Mobility Kit on your vehicle, as it may not be safe.
  • The Tire Mobility Kit may be ineffective for larger tire damage, approximately 0.24 in (6 mm). Please contact your nearest HYUNDAI dealer if the tire cannot be made serviceable with the Tire Mobility Kit.
  • Do not use the Tire Mobility Kit if the tire is severely damaged from driving on a flat tire or with insufficient air pressure.
  • Do not remove any foreign objects, such as nails or screws, that have penetrated the tire.
  • If the vehicle is outdoors, keep the engine running. Otherwise, the compressor may eventually discharge the vehicle battery.
  • Never leave the Tire Mobility Kit unattended while it is in use.
  • Do not operate the compressor for more than 10 minutes continuously, or it may overheat.
  • Do not use the Tire Mobility Kit if the ambient temperature is below -22°F (-30°C).
  • If sealant contacts the skin, wash the affected area thoroughly with plenty of water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
  • If sealant contacts the eyes, flush the eyes for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
  • If sealant is swallowed, rinse the mouth and drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person, and seek medical attention immediately.
  • Prolonged exposure to sealant may cause damage to body tissues such as the kidneys.
