Air cleaner

Filter Replacement

The air filter element can be cleaned with compressed air for inspection.

Do not attempt to wash or rinse it, as water may damage the filter.

If the filter is contaminated, the air filter element must be replaced.

1. Loosen the air cleaner cover clamps and open the cover.

2. Wipe the inside of the air cleaner.

3. Replace the air filter element.

4. Secure the cover with the cover mounting clips.

5. Make sure the cover is securely installed.

Information

If the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, replace the element more often than the normal recommended intervals (refer to "Severe Operating Conditions" in this chapter).

NOTICE

  • Do not drive with the air cleaner filter removed. This will result in excessive engine wear.
  • When removing the air cleaner filter, make sure dust or dirt does not enter the air intake, otherwise damage may result.
  • Use genuine HYUNDAI parts. Use of non-genuine parts may damage the mass air flow sensor.
