Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) System

~1min read

[A] : Blind Spot
[B] : High-Speed Closing

The Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to monitor and warn the driver of approaching vehicles in the driver's blind spot zone.

The system monitors the area behind the vehicle and alerts the driver with an audible signal and indicators on the outside rearview mirrors.

(1) BCW: Blind Spot

The BCW detection range depends on vehicle speed. Note that if your vehicle is traveling much faster than the vehicles around you, the warning will not be displayed.

(2) BCW: High-Speed Closing

The BCW-Closing at High Speed function warns you of an approaching vehicle in the adjacent lane at high speed. If the driver turns on the turn signal when the system detects an approaching vehicle, the system sounds an audible warning. The distance to the approaching vehicle may be displayed differently depending on relative speed.

(3) RCCW (Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning)

The RCCW function monitors for approaching traffic from the left and right sides of your vehicle when your vehicle is moving in reverse. The function operates when the vehicle is reversing at a speed below 10 km/h. If approaching traffic is detected, a warning chime will sound.

The distance to an approaching vehicle may appear different depending on the relative speed.

WARNING

  • Always monitor road and traffic conditions while driving and be prepared for unexpected situations, even when the Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system is operating.
  • The Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system does not replace proper and safe driving. Always drive safely and use caution when changing lanes or backing up the vehicle. The Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system may not detect every object near the vehicle.
