Integrated Drive Mode Control System

~2min read

The drive mode can be selected according to driver preference or road conditions.

The system resets to COMFORT mode (except ECO mode) when the engine is restarted.

Information

If there is a problem with the instrument cluster, the drive mode will be fixed in COMFORT mode and cannot be switched to SPORT mode.

The mode changes as shown below each time the DRIVE MODE button is pressed.

When COMFORT mode is selected, it is not shown on the instrument cluster.

ECO Mode (if equipped)

When the drive mode is set to ECO mode, the engine and transmission control logic is changed to maximize fuel efficiency.

  • When ECO mode is selected by pressing the DRIVE MODE button, the ECO indicator will illuminate.
  • If the vehicle is in ECO mode, the drive mode setting will remain in ECO mode when the engine is stopped and restarted.

Information

Fuel efficiency depends on the driver's driving habits and road conditions.

When ECO mode is activated:

  • Acceleration response may be slightly reduced when the accelerator pedal is moderately depressed.
  • Air conditioning performance may be limited.
  • The shift pattern of the dual clutch transmission may change.
  • Engine noise may become louder.

The above conditions are normal when ECO mode is activated to improve fuel efficiency.

ECO Mode Operation Limitation:

If the following conditions occur while ECO mode is operating, system operation is limited, even though the ECO indicator does not change.

  • When the engine coolant temperature is low: The system will be limited until engine operation becomes normal.
  • When driving uphill: The system will limit the increase in power when driving uphill due to engine torque limitation.
  • When driving a vehicle with a dual clutch transmission and the shift lever is in manual shift mode: The system will be limited due to the shift position.
  • When the accelerator pedal is pressed fully for several seconds: The system will be limited, assuming the driver wants to accelerate.

SPORT Mode

SPORT mode enhances driving dynamics by automatically adjusting steering effort, engine control, and transmission control logic to improve handling.

  • When SPORT mode is selected by pressing the DRIVE MODE button, the SPORT mode indicator illuminates.
  • Whenever the engine is restarted, the drive mode returns to COMFORT mode. If SPORT mode is required, select SPORT mode again using the DRIVE MODE button.
  • When SPORT mode is activated:
    - Engine speed will tend to remain elevated for a certain period of time even after the accelerator pedal is released
    - Upshifts are delayed during acceleration

Information

Fuel economy may decrease in SPORT mode.

COMFORT mode

COMFORT mode is the basic mode.

When COMFORT mode is selected by pressing the DRIVE MODE button, the COMFORT indicator will illuminate.

If the vehicle is in COMFORT mode, the drive mode setting will remain in COMFORT mode when the engine is stopped and restarted.
