Tire Replacement with TPMS
If you have a flat tire, the low tire pressure message will illuminate. We recommend that the flat tire be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
We recommend using a sealant approved by HYUNDAI.
The sealant on the tire pressure sensor and wheel must be removed when you replace the tire with a new one.
Each wheel is equipped with a tire pressure sensor installed inside the tire behind the valve stem. You must use TPMS-specific wheels. It is recommended that your tires be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Even if you replace the low-pressure tire with the spare tire, the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light will flash or remain illuminated until the low-pressure tire is repaired and installed on the vehicle.
After replacing the low-pressure tire with the spare tire, the Low Tire Pressure telltale may flash or illuminate for a few minutes because the TPMS sensor is not installed on the spare tire.
After the low-pressure tire is inflated to the recommended pressure and installed on the vehicle, or we recommend that the TPMS sensor installed on the replaced spare wheel be activated by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer, the TPMS malfunction indicator and the Low Tire Pressure telltale will go off after a few minutes of driving.
If the indicator does not go off after a few minutes of driving, it is recommended that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
When replacing the originally installed tire with the spare tire, the TPMS sensor on the replaced spare wheel is activated, and we recommend that the TPMS sensor on the originally installed wheel be deactivated by a HYUNDAI dealer.
If the TPMS sensor on the originally installed wheel, located in the spare wheel, is still activated, the tire pressure monitoring system may not operate correctly. We recommend that the system be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
You may not be able to determine low tire pressure simply by looking at the tire. Always use a good-quality tire pressure gauge to measure tire pressure. Please note that a tire that is hot (from driving) will have a higher pressure reading than a tire that is cold.
Cold tires means the vehicle has been parked for 3 hours and has been driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km) during that 3-hour period.
Allow the tires to cool before measuring tire pressure. Always make sure the tires are cold before inflating them to the recommended pressure.
CAUTION
We recommend that you use a sealant approved by HYUNDAI if your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. Liquid sealant may damage the tire pressure sensors.
WARNING
TPMS
- The TPMS cannot warn you of severe and sudden tire damage caused by external factors such as nails or road debris.
- If you feel the vehicle becoming unstable, immediately release the accelerator pedal, apply the brake pedal gradually and with light force, and slowly move to a safe place off the road.
WARNING
TPMS Protection
Interference, modification, or disabling of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) may interfere with the system's ability to warn the driver of low tire pressure conditions and/or TPMS malfunctions. Tampering, modifying, or disabling TPMS components may void the warranty on this part of the vehicle.
WARNING
FOR EUROPE
- Do not modify the vehicle, as this may interfere with the operation of the TPMS.
- Aftermarket wheels do not have a TPMS sensor. For your safety, we recommend using replacement parts from an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If you use aftermarket wheels, use a TPMS sensor approved by HYUNDAI. If your vehicle is not equipped with a TPMS sensor or the TPMS does not operate properly, you may not pass the periodic vehicle inspection in your country.
❈All vehicles sold in the EUROPEAN market during the period indicated below must be equipped with TPMS.
- New vehicle model: November 1, 2012 ~
- Current vehicle model: November 1, 2014 ~ (Based on vehicle registration)
